Friday 19th of September 2014 is going to be remembered as one of the most overwhelming days. For me anyway. Just think about it, we had Culture Night, Parki(ING) Day, Fringe Festival, OctoberFest going on and Theatre Festival around the corner. All the same day! Oh, did I mention Twitter explosion with David Gandy being in the M&S store for his new male underwear launch? Frankly speaking, before my Twitter feed went crazy, I didn’t even know, who the magical creature is. Turns out, he is a male model, who has managed to concur hearts of a sizable female population.
Anyway, back to the topic. Sure, Fringe has been running for 2 weeks now and Octoberfest just kicked off, but that means come September next year and time management challenge is up again. Or you can follow my example this year go for the lame excuse of being tired and just follow everything through social media or Internet in general.
So, people went crazy with some seriously cool stuff going on around the city. Here are some reactions from Twitter: CultureNight, ParkingDay Nearly all tours were booked prior to Friday, which gives me a great pleasure that culture in this city is of great interest. Parking Day installations brought so desperately needed green colour to the city centre. I honestly wish we could have more of things like that. I recently stumbled upon a collection of great pictures, that would look so amazing on Dublin streets as another pop up project.
It’s great to see new and old initiatives year by year. It all makes the city and the nation ever so special. It’s the reason why people fall in love with Ireland. Sure, there is always something to complain about, but that’s not the point. You have to be able to appreciate efforts to make the community better and put the cultural aspect on a forefront. So get your lazy bum off that sofa and go see something interesting!
